Thank you for using HyoMemo.
This page explains the basics, answers common questions, and tells you how to contact us.
About the app
HyoMemo lets you create as many simple three-column checklists as you like, laid out like a spreadsheet, on iPhone and iPad.
- Check — Mark items as done
- Category — Group items. Filter and sort by category
- Item — Type anything you like
Press Return in an item cell to confirm it and move to the next row, just like a spreadsheet. To add a line break inside a cell, tap Line Break above the keyboard (shown when the table setting Wrap Text in Cells is on). You can also swipe the row left → Edit.
When you copy several lines from Notes, Excel, or another app and paste them into an empty row, tap Split into Rows to make each line its own item. You can also tap ⋯ → Add Rows from Clipboard to add them all to the end of the table. Bullets and numbers such as “•”, “-”, or “1.” are removed, and lines marked “[x]” or “✓” come in checked. If you copy two or more columns from a spreadsheet, the rightmost column becomes the item and the column to its left becomes the category.
To change the order of tables on the home list, touch and hold a table and drag it up or down. Release without moving to see the menu: rename, change icon and color, duplicate, save as template, or delete. Choose from 40 icons and 7 colors for each table (touch and hold → Change Icon & Color).
For each table, you can choose how checked rows look (checkmark only, or strikethrough and gray), move checked rows to the bottom or hide them, wrap text in cells, and set the category column width. Each row can have a note that doesn’t show in the table; swipe the row left → Edit to open it. For lists you reuse, such as groceries or packing, swipe the table right in the list → Reset, or tap the check column header → Uncheck All.
Progress on Home: Choose how each table shows its progress on the home list in ⋯ → Settings → Progress on Home (Squares, Bar and Percentage, or Ring and Percentage).
Search: Use the Search All Tables field on the home list (at the bottom of the screen on iOS 26 and later; on earlier versions, pull down the list to show it at the top) to search table names, items, categories, and notes across all tables. Tap a result to open that table with the row highlighted.
Column names: In a table, tap ⋯ → Table Settings → Column Names to rename the Category and Item headers for that table (for example, Aisle and Product). Clear the field to go back to the default. Exported CSV and Markdown use these names too.
Auto reset: In a table, tap ⋯ → Table Settings → Auto Reset and choose Daily or Weekly (with a day) and a time. When that time passes, all checks clear automatically. Great for daily bags and weekly inspections. If the app wasn’t open, it resets the next time you open it (no notifications). Tap Undo at the bottom right after a reset to bring the checks back.
Export
Export a table as CSV (Excel-compatible), text (Markdown), or JSON, and save or send it with the share sheet.
Backup and restore
From the list screen menu, choose Backup / Restore to save all tables in one JSON file and import it later. We recommend a backup before changing devices or reinstalling.
FAQ
Where is my data stored?
On your device. If you turn on Sync with iCloud, it’s also stored in your own iCloud Drive. The app never sends your data to the developer’s servers.
Do I need an account?
No. There’s no sign-in or account.
I deleted a table or row by mistake
Tap Undo in the bar that appears at the bottom right after deleting (it shows for about 8 seconds). This works for deleting tables, rows, and checked rows, and for Uncheck All.
Is my data deleted if I delete the app?
Yes, the data on the device is deleted. Create a backup first.
Can I sync between devices with iCloud?
Yes. Go to … → Settings → Sync with iCloud. Your tables are shared across iPhone and iPad signed in to the same Apple Account.
- If the same table is edited on two devices, the newer version of each row is kept, so items added, edited, or checked in different rows on each device are all kept. If the same row is changed on both, the later change is kept.
- Templates sync too.
- The data on your device just before you turn sync on is saved automatically. You can restore it from … → Backup / Restore → Automatic Backups.
- Sync isn’t available if you’re not signed in to iCloud or iCloud Drive is off.
Can I add a widget to my Home Screen?
Yes. Touch and hold the Home Screen → + → HyoMemo, then choose a size. Touch and hold the widget → Edit Widget to choose the table and text size (Large, Medium, or Small). The number of items shown adjusts to the widget and text size. Tap an item in the widget to check it off, without opening the app. Tap elsewhere to open the table.
Can I add it to my Lock Screen?
Yes. Touch and hold the Lock Screen → Customize → Lock Screen → tap the area below the clock (or the date above it for the single line) → HyoMemo. There are three styles: a small circle with the table’s icon and the number of items left inside a progress ring, a rectangle with the table name, the count, and the next items, and a single line above the clock such as “Groceries · 3 left”. For the rectangle, edit the widget and choose a Text Size: Large (1 item), Medium (2 items), or Small (3 items). You can’t check items from the Lock Screen widget; tap it to open the table.
Can I add text from other apps?
Yes. Select text in Safari, Notes, or another app → Share → Add to HyoMemo, then choose a table. It appears the next time you open HyoMemo. You can also say “Add to HyoMemo” to Siri, or use the “Add Item to Table” action in the Shortcuts app.
Are there templates?
Tap + to start from Groceries, Packing List, Inspection, Procedure, or To-Do List. You can customize templates: touch and hold a template, or tap ⋯, to edit its name, description, icon, and rows, or to duplicate or delete it. Tap Create New Template to make your own, or touch and hold a table on the home list → Save as Template. Deleted built-in templates come back with Restore Deleted Built-in Templates. Templates are included in iCloud sync and backups.
Are there ads or purchases?
The free version shows a banner ad at the bottom. A full-screen ad may also appear when you close a table and return to the list. It doesn’t appear when you first start using the app; as you use it more, it can appear up to once every 4 times, at least 3 minutes apart. Buy Remove Ads (one-time purchase) in Settings to hide all ads. On a new device, use Restore Purchases.
I bought Remove Ads but still see ads
Try Restore Purchases in Settings. You need to be signed in with the same Apple Account.
How do I change ad privacy settings?
Use Ad Privacy Settings in Settings. It appears only in regions where ad choices are required.
